EMPATHY exhibition in the Castle Museum in Sandomierz

After the premiere show in Legnica, the 32nd International Jewellery Competition began a tour of museums, galleries and events dedicated to contemporary jewellery. Sandomierz (Poland) became the next venue for the presentation of the EMPATHY exhibition. The works are on display at the Castle Museum in Sandomierz (Castle Street 12) from August 16 to September 15, 2024.

The opening of the exhibition took place on August 16 (Friday) at 6 p.m.

The competition has been organized by the Gallery of Art in Legnica as the main event of the Jewellery Festival SILVER since 1979 (initially as the National Review of the Goldsmiths Forms). It is one of the oldest initiatives to promote contemporary jewellery in Europe, supporting creative explorations within a niche field at the intersection of art, craft and design.

Each year the competition is held under a different title referring to important, universal problems and issues from the spheres of broadly understood art, culture, sociology or media. This time we invited artists to discuss EMPATHY in jewellery.

The jury, including Prof. Sławomir Fijałkowski, Mari Ishikawa, Charon Kransen, Michalina Owczarek-Siwak and Doreen Timmers, evaluated works from a record number of 45 countries. The competition received more than 500 works by 295 artists. Works by 44 artists from 20 countries have been selected for the post-competition exhibition. The list of those who qualified can be found below.

The list of winners was published HERE.
