“The selection of the winning works was not easy. Like the whole exhibition, the winning works are pieces of a puzzle. Each of them relates to a different aspect of empathy and each delighted us for a different reason. The Grand Prix winner stood out for its modernity and the effect of a complete design, thought through at every stage of its creation. The 2nd prize winner moved us spiritually and the 3rd was characterized by its interesting form and symbolism. The special prize, on the other hand, takes the viewer to a private, very personal moment of the author, presented in a bold and uncompromising way” - says Michalina Owczarek-Siwak, PhD, juror of the competition.
More than 500 works by 295 artists from a record number of 45 countries were submitted for this year's Competition. They were assessed by a jury composed of Prof. Sławomir Fijałkowski, Mari Ishikawa, Charon Kransen, Michalina Owczarek-Siwak and Doreen Timmers. The post-competition exhibition offers an artistic perspective on “empathy” by artists of different generations from almost every corner of the globe - including the USA, Iran, Italy, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Norway and New Zealand. The post-competition exhibition of works by 44 artists from 21 countries is on display at the Gallery of Art in Legnica until 21 July.
