EMPATHY in the YES Gallery

On December 6th at 7:30 PM, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the 32nd International Jewellery Competition EMPATHY at the YES Gallery in Poznań.

The exhibition features several dozen jewellery pieces created by 44 artists from 20 countries. All the works, while representing a wide spectrum of both traditional and experimental technical and formal solutions, relate to the competition’s main theme. Mourning, self-love, mirror neurons—these and many other concepts come together to form a multi-faceted narrative about empathy, expressed by the artists in (often surprising) jewellery forms.

This time, the jewellery art will be accompanied by a photography exhibition titled The Beautiful Face of Cancer.

The exhibition at YES Gallery (Paderewskiego 7, 61-770 Poznań) will run until January 31, 2025.

The International Jewellery Competition is the flagship event of the Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER, organized by the Gallery of Art in Legnica since 1979 (originally as the Polish Review of Goldsmith's Forms). It is one of the oldest initiatives in Europe aimed at promoting contemporary artistic jewellery, supporting creative exploration within this niche field at the intersection of art, craftsmanship, and design.

Each year, the competition revolves around a different theme, addressing significant, universal issues and challenges of contemporary life, interpreted through the lenses of society, culture, sociology, or the anthropology of everyday life. The theme of the current edition invites a creative reflection on the concept of EMPATHY.

The jury, composed of Prof. Sławomir Fijałkowski, Mari Ishikawa, Charon Kransen, Dr. Michalina Owczarek-Siwak, and Doreen Timmers, evaluated works submitted from a record-breaking 45 countries. Over 500 pieces by 295 artists were entered into the competition.
