Debuts is an award granted by The Gallery of Art in Legnica as part of the Władysław Strzemiński Project Competition, organised for students of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. The aim of the Debuts series is to provide young artists with an opportunity to make their mark on the international art scene and to gain their first experiences in presenting their own work. Justyna Anioł’s exhibition serves as a summary of her educational journey so far and offers a cross-sectional presentation of her creative explorations.

Justyna Anioł is a master's student at the Institute of Jewellery at the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. In June 2023, she completed her bachelor's degree.

The young artist’s works balance between refined craftsmanship with the use of precious metals, and a free-spirited play with unconventional materials and themes. Her pieces are filled with curiosity and inspirations drawn from a wide range of sources— from sweet icing through masterpieces of great artists to the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

The foundation of Justyna Anioł’s work is metal, and when she incorporates unconventional materials, they always appear in its company. For the artist, the theme is of utmost importance, guiding the entire creative process. Her works combine colour and form in often surprising compositions.

"In my work, metal serves as the material building the form, while I usually introduce colour through other means. In more traditional jewellery, these are typically gemstones, but in artistic projects, I often turn to unconventional materials. For example, while creating a collection inspired by flowers, I searched for a material that could capture the essence of flower petals. That’s why I chose compressed plastic bags. I believe they perfectly convey the delicate character of a petal, and through them, I introduced colour."
