Jewellery and Blacksmithing
Jewellery and blacksmithing are a unique combination of two disciplines that form a symbiosis in a common mental environment, where the material world is seen in relation to the surrounding environment, and contemporary applied art is seen as a vehicle for a conceptual philosophical world. The focus is on understanding and making sense of the nature of materials, technological and other processes in the context of contemporary art and cultural life. It will address the 'density of things' - dense or charged physical objects that carry memory and identity.
The focus is primarily on professional training, but alongside a focus on a specific field, interdisciplinary coherence is also essential. Collaborative projects, experimental initiatives, student mobility, and new opportunities bring values such as community spirit, working towards common goals, and networking.
