Performance by students of the Department of Jewellery at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź

5 May, 8:30 pm

Main Square, Legnica

A performance prepared and performed by the jewellery students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź - the oldest faculty in Poland educating in jewellery design - will take place in the town space during the culmination of this year's edition of the Legnica SILVER Festival. Students will become mobile exhibitors, inviting passers-by and Festival guests to interact. Recipients will be asked to vote for the jewellery they like best. This social micro-experiment will provide answers to the questions: do we like conceptual designs, traditional, classic jewellery or perhaps chain store products better? The results of the survey will be presented during the culmination.

Concert by the Piotr Rachoń Quartet

5 May, 9 pm

Art Cafe Modjeska, Rynek 23, Legnica

A musical feast during the culmination of the Festival will be provided by the Piotr Rachoń Quartet. This contemporary jazz is full of dynamics and surprising twists. The Piotr Rachoń Quartet was formed on the initiative of pianist Piotr Rachoń. The group's music defies clear definition - in Legnica, we will hear jazz embedded in modern harmony and rhythm, enriched with electronic sounds, as well as arrangements and pieces inspired by Asian culture and classical music.

DIYpasoPrecjoza

6.05. (Saturday), 3.00 pm - 5.30 pm

Workshops on creating 'recycled' jewellery with Arek Pasożyt. During the meeting, this unconventional artist will talk about zero waste/freegan tactics and introduce techniques for working on author's DIY jewellery. Workshop participants will be introduced to artistic ways of shaping and processing rings, necklaces, earrings and other ornaments - depending on their needs. The end result of the event will be the joint creation of a DIY collection and a small exhibition to conclude the class. Workshop participants are asked to bring along their old, unwanted, jewellery. The class is intended for adults and teenagers over the age of 14. Participation free of charge. Places are limited, registration required.

About the Festival

For more than forty years, the Gallery of Art in Legnica has been specializing in the promotion of contemporary jewellery and artistic objects made mainly of silver. The Jewellery Festival SILVER is one of the most important events shaping the cultural life of the region and building its image on the international forum. Every year we organize individual and group exhibitions of Polish and international artists, publish exhibition catalogues, organize conferences and symposia, as well as jewellery shows, workshops, debates and concerts. The most important event we organize is Legnica International Jewellery Competition which has a different theme every year.
