Legnica SILVER Festival – accompanying events
Performance by Dariusz Wojdyga
9 May, Rynek (Main Square), Legnica
Starting from the concept of reembodiment – the transformation of the body’s silhouette through added elements – this performance invites the public to explore how objects, materials and the environment affect movement and interaction, and how they go beyond fixed frameworks of meaning. Through wearable sculptures and performative expression, the artist examines how the properties, shapes and dimensions of materials create different possibilities and limitations for the body in motion and in relation to its surroundings. Objects and materials become active co-creators in a continuous dialogue between the body, movement and interaction with people and space. The performance also questions the definition of jewellery, the nature of contemporary jewellery art, and its boundaries. It operates at the intersection of jewellery, sculpture and choreography.
Dariusz Wojdyga is a visual artist based in Oslo. He works across disciplines with a strong focus on ecological themes and the reuse of materials. His work often results from recycling, upcycling, recontextualisation and reinterpretation.
Performance by students of the Jewellery Department, Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź
9 May, Rynek (Main Square), Legnica
Three monumental rings will appear in the heart of the city – each one different, each waiting to be co-created. The audience is invited to take part in a collective action by decorating the forms using prepared materials: fabrics, foils and various found objects.
Each ring features a central "stone" with an opening where visitors can insert small, self-made aluminium foil objects. The action is open and participatory – an inclusive, performative installation that invites spontaneity, creativity and reflection on what contemporary jewellery can be.
Silver Evening – Suchy Pion band
9 May, 9:00 PM
Art Cafe Modjeska, Rynek 23, Legnica
Suchy Pion is a music–performance–therapeutic collective/brotherhood, founded in the early 21st century as an ideological counter to the doctrine of Wet Horizontalism.
Suchy Pion’s nuanced musical style reaches audiences typically numb to any form of cultural or educational engagement—by sowing the seeds of punk rock: a heady brew of irony-soaked realism, positive energy, and raw emotion. Combined with hyper-reactive stage choreography, this cocktail manages to stir even the most hermetically sealed specimens of the human species.

SCHEDULE HERE
During the Festival’s Opening Weekend, we will gather to hear from artists presenting their work in this year’s exhibitions and to discuss the condition of contemporary jewellery and design. The Legnica SILVER Festival would not be complete without the annual popular-science symposium Boundaries of Global Art, which brings together the worlds of science, design and culture. The lectures and presentations will cover a variety of topics, all linked by shared themes: jewellery and this year’s competition concept – WOW Effect!
