Christina Karababa „Interstitial Space” at the Academic Design Center in Łódź

We are pleased to announce that Christina Karababa’s exhibition „Interstitial Space”, which was a part of last edition of Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER, is being presented at the Academic Design Center in Łódź (Poland).

The exhibition will be available to the 25th of January 2026.

Christina Karababa works within the field of narrative jewellery. She focuses on the role of ornament as a medium of communication, which, when worn on the body, engages viewers in public space. In her projects, she addresses current social issues such as the migration crisis (pendants containing hidden gold ingots from the series Jewellery as Wearable Capital. The Ultimate Survival Kit), armed conflicts (the necklace Triple Barrel of Peace), as well as themes related to identity (brooches from the series You and Me) and cultural heritage (a brooch with a scanned fragment of a metope from the frieze of the Parthenon I Am a Citizen of the World… But I Am Also an Athenian!).

Artist explores the potential of new technologies in jewellery design, using CAD/CAM systems, 3D printing, SLS prototyping methods, and FDM fused deposition modelling (rapid prototyping). Through deepening her knowledge of technological possibilities, she examines their meanings, potential applications, and impact on society.

The exhibition is a part of the individual presentations program of the ART&DESIGN Festival 2025. Fluid bodies. You are welcome to visit and explore the interstitial space!
