Plateaus Jewellery Project
Plateaus arises from the need of a new generation to define their position in an always changing world.
Plateaus is a motor that generates energy: it is an initiative. It means growing together and it manifests the wish of doing, exhibiting and sharing.
The beauty of freedom brings us close to cultivate the shape of future.

Plateaus Jewellery Project, October 2012
The exhibition presents the works of Plateaus Jewellery Project which arises from complementary causes. At the moment four jewelry artist, who come from different countries, are connected in this project: Katharina Dettar, Edu Tarin, Barbora Dzurákova and Patrícia Correia Domingues. What they have in common are their academic years at the Hochschule für Edelstein und Schmuck of Idar-Oberstein (University of Trier). They have known each other and have worked together there. Although they do belong to different academic years, in their pieces of jewelry one can recognize interconnection and mutual inspiration. The heterogeneity of their origin, manner of approaching and individual shaping allow them to express themselves and to intensify their connections at the same time.
Plateaus Jewellery Project has been working with the idea of using different artistic disciplines to achieve unexpected outcomes. The results of “Plateaus Jewellery Project” presented here, created in collaboration with graphic designer Marta Veludo are exercises in setting the limits of an artwork.
Katharina Dettar
Born 1988 in Fürth (Germany), until 2010 living in Catalonia. Katharina started very young to study Artistic Jewellery at Massana School in Barcelona, Spain, her final project being tutored by Professor Ramón Puig Cuyás and Professor Eija Mustonen while doing her exchange semester at Rantapaja, in Jewellery and Stonework Design in Lappeenranta, Finland. She studied Bachelor of Arts at the Fachhochschule Idar-Oberstein (University of Trier, Germany) until 2013. In 2010 winner of the Talente Prize in Munich and winner of the Förderpreis des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz , Germany. Her works have been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, North America and Asia. Her pieces have been published in catalogues, magazines and books. Since 2012 she has got a scholarship of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.
Edu Tarin
Son of a jeweller, was trained at the workshop of the family business, having as a teacher Mr. Eduardo Tarín Ruiz, specialized goldsmith and Mr. Francisco Brocal, specialized hand engraver. He has been working since 2002 at the family business and for several jewellery stores in Valencia. In 2008 studied artistic jewellery at the EASD Valencia School, with the Professors Kepa Karmona, Carlos Pastor and Heidi Schechinger. Currently continue his studies of jewellery in the Fachhochschule Trier, Idar-Oberstein in Germany, under the guidance of Professors Theo Smeets, Ute Eitzenhöfer and Lothar Brügel.
Barbora Dzurakova
Born 1984 in Nitra (Slovakia). At the age of 6 her parents enrolled her into an Art club, where the teacher was a jewellery maker, and so introduced her into several techniques related to this practice. Doing and selling leather pendants decorated with stones at the age of 9, Barbora decided to become a famous artist separated from all systematic restrictions. After studying Glass Design at Technical School in Lednické Rovne and at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in Slovakia, she reached her Bachelor in Aesthetics and Art History in 2006. The Master in Fine Arts in 2008 -and continued to study Jewellery, and did her Master’s Degree in Gemstone and Jewellery Design at Trier University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in January 2012. In 2012 she got promoted by SPP Art Foundation managed by ARTSERVIS within 6 young artists in Slovakia. Since then she has been working as a studio assistant for Estela Saez and making jewellery. Based in The Netherlands.
Patrícia Correia Domingues
Patrícia Correia Domingues was born in 1986 in Portugal. She has worked in the field of jewellery since she was 15 years old, attending the course “Art and Metals” at António Arroio School in Lisbon. In 2007 she went to Spain to study artistic jewellery at Massana School, and her final project was guided by Professor Ramón Puig Cuyás. In 2009 she was an exchange student in Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn and in 2013 finished a M.A at the Gemstone and Jewellery Design Department, University of Trier, Idar-Oberstein. She is a member of the Collectives Bórax08001 and Plateaus Jewellery Project and since 2009 she has participated in collective exhibitions in Europe. In 2012 Patricia won the student prize “New Traditional Jewellery” and in 2014 she won the prize “Talente 2014”.
