Aspects of beauty
Every person construes a given thing in an individual manner. He or she chooses what appears to him or her as beautiful, pleasant. Our senses, culture, and education are responsible for such decisions. We judge the reality with their help. To a large extent my collection has been created in the symbolic context. It is also a form of an experiment for me. There may be different aspects of beauty, sometimes they are hidden. They may have the form of provocation or be unnoticeable to us.
I divided the collection into six parts: 1) Beauty as a shape, 2) Found object, 3) Beauty of the machines, 4) Hidden beauty / Inside beauty, 5) Beauty of nature, 6) Symbolism of colours.
Selecting particular topics I based on my personal interests. All of these issues in some way join and infiltrate each other.
Ewa Effenberg
Everybody is amazed at Ewa Effenberg’s work – its strong impact obtained with minimal, absolutely minimal, means. She is extremely influential, even while whispering. Some of her works seem to be created en passant. Others, in which her intention is clear, use surprising contrasts: noble metals traditionally attributed to jewellery come down to just marks on elements of common materials, even worn-out; and gemstones have been hidden, trapped in small, permanently closed containers of rings, in aluminium cans pressed into a cube, or paper boxes, invisible.

An original collection of jewellery – as Effenberg calls her collection – is a real confirmation of her expression as an artist through work. Such a characteristic set of works makes them recognizable and the style is connected with Ewa. No doubt her frankness, directness, and authenticity have determined this as well; these elements have always confirmed the value in the history of art, in a similar way as in the works of Marcel Duchamp or Jackson Pollock.

About the artist:
Ewa Effenberg born in 1979 in Łódź. Graduate of the Wł. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź. In 2004 graduated diploma at the Atelier of Jewellery of Prof. Andrzej Szadkowski. Since 2005 she has been working at the Academy in Łódź, at present as a lecturer at the Atelier of Goldsmith Forms Design under Andrzej Boss’es guidance. Operates artistic activity in the field of jewellery and small goldsmith forms design.
Author of two individual exhibitions and participant of over 40 exhibiitons in Poland and abroad, e.g. Palagio di Parte Guelfa, Firenze, Italy; Gallery Bigalli, Dicomano, Italy; Societe Industrielle de Mulhouse, Mulhouse, France; Museum of Etnography, Sankt Petersburg, Russia; Platan Gallery, Budapest, Hungary; Katholische Stadthaus, Wuppertal, Germany; Inhorgenta Europe, Munich, Germany; Museum of Applied Arts, Poznań; Gallery of Art, Legnica; Regional Museum, Sandomierz. Her works are in collections of the Gallery of Art in Legnica and Regional Museum in Sandomierz.
Awards and scholarships:
2011 - research scholarship of Minister of Culture and National Heritage - Young Poland 2011
2009 - research Award of President of the City of Łódź for the Staff of Jewellery Department of the Wł. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź for the work titled Gold Creations. Jubilee of 50 years anniversary of jewellery design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź
