Symposium: Boundaries of Global Art: Classic in post-modern reality

The symposium has been organized during Legnica Jewellery Festival Silver for 15 years. It is the forum for debate not only about jewellery itself, but first of all about design and contemporary art. In theoretical part historians, art theorists, curators, philosophers, critics, journalists present their speeches and in practical one artists-jewelers and designers present their works of art. The speakers are from Poland and from abroad. This year, the theme of the session, traditionally the same as in the Competition, is CLASSIC. It refers to the most actual cultural and social problems. The speakers will discuss about CLASSIC. Has it still raison d'etre in modern design and art? What is claimed to be classical and timeless? During the symposium the promotions of newest publications about contemporary jewellery by Andrzej Bandkowski, prof. Irena Huml and Jacek A. Rochacki will take place.

Silver Jazz: DUOLOGY: Gruszecki & Smoliński

Traditionally the concert closes the first day of the Festival finale. The guests of the 35th Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER will be entertained by a great duet of multiinstrumentalists: Gruszecki&Smoliński (here: trumpet, keyboards).

DUOLOGIA a specific project Patrycjusz Gruszecki & Mariusz Smoliński is a synthesis of jazz, pop, chillout and author music. The strength of the duo are: sound and good teamwork worked for years among others in the bands "One, Two, Trio", "Patrycjusz Gruszecki Quartet", "PGS" and "Zbigniew Wodecki Band". The unique atmosphere is a feature of every performance of artists. Repertoire every time is selected on live, depending on the type of projection, the atmosphere and the expectations of listeners. Each of the concert is an experiment which goes beyond the framework of the arrangements, schemes and scenarios. Performance in the framework of this year's Silver Jazz promises are therefore very promising. You are welcome!

Silver Screen The Lord of the Rings: The Return of Silver

SSc is a cycle of screening of the films related to the topic of the Legnica International Jewellery Competition. This year the films topic is a broadly defined „classic”. The works shown include feature films, shorts, documentaries and experimental forms. Screenings take place every Wednesday during the Festival, from 7th May till 4th June. A special SSc projection will take place on the 17th May at 7.30 p.m.

Exhibition of photographs Photoclassics

Photo exhibition under the topic of the International Legnica Jewellery Competition CLASSIC. The exhibition provokes to reflection and discussion about timeless canons and values in the art. Are there universal codes, which no matter when are still functioning in the art? Has modern, globalized and technocratic civilization abandoned these codes? Is modern art corresponding with tradition? Is it possible to renew gothic beauty or former canon of woman’s body? Can historical retrospection and reinterpretation of classic canons be still inspiring? Mona Lisa with cap? Famous lady with tablet? Van Gogh’s „Sunflowers” in 3D? The participation in the exhibition is opened for everyone!
