Light Matters
International jewelry exhibition by 6 goldsmiths from different countries of the world (Daria Borovkova, Valentina Caprini, Lena Grabher, Daria Olejniczak, Lavina Rossetti, Maria Ignacia Walker) together in a show reflecting on why LIGHT MATTERS. Unique jewellery pieces interact with illumination in order to create a new subject full of possibilities for interpretations. The viewer is swirled into a game of light and shadow, material and ephemeral, handmade and digital. The silent dialogue between these two realities create an intricate scenery.
Daria Borovkova - Russia / Italy
Educated in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication and subsequently specialised in Interior Design and Decoration in London / Moscow and MFA studies in Jewellery and Body Ornament at Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School (Florence, Włochy), 2016. She is currently teaching at Alchimia and working in her studio in Florence. People, traditions and cultural heritage are her major source of inspiration. Her work is dedicated to socio-cultural aspects and is expressed through direct involvement with natural materials that she carefully selects for each project.

Valentina Caprini - Italy
Valentina’s work plays around the surprise of what is possible to make with a simple and thin line: a thread. Coming from a family with a strong feminine tailoring tradition, she wanted to bring this passionate root into her jewellery world, finding new ways of working with textiles. She weaves freely thousands of meters of threads on a hydrosoluble fabric, cutting or interlacing them one with the other, to let unexpected connections appear. Her approach is both experimental and traditional: she likes to combine contemporary methods with ancient techniques, like Filigree.
Valentina Caprini
Lena Grabher - Austria
Graduate of the Wiener Goldschmiede Akademie (completed her apprenticeship examination as a Jeweler in 2010) and the Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, Italy (BFA in 2013) and studies in Metals at the State University of New York at New Paltz (MFA in 2015). Lena has developed an experimental way of working, driven by a concept that plays a fundamental role along with her design and material explorations combining traditional techniques and new technologies.

Daria Olejniczak - Poland / Germany
Daria Olejniczak is a Berlin-based jewellery artist and lighting designer. She graduated in Architecture from the Technical University of Lodz (Poland) and received a Master Degree in Lighting Design from the Hochschule in Wismar (Germany). She also finished studies at Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence (Italy) where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Contemporary Jewellery Design. In her working process she strives toward a flow experience; complete absorption in a single task. In her case it is primarily a repetitive, almost meditative work with small-scale objects, which are intuitively transformed through a long process of disassembly, reorganization and reconstruction.

Lavinia Rossetti - Italy
Lavinia Rossetti holds an MFA in Contemporary Jewelry and Body Ornament from Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence. She also obtained a BA in Art History with a special focus in Art jewellery from the University of Pisa. She is currently teaching in the intensive courses at Alchimia and working as an independent jewellery artist exposing in international fair and exhibitions.
Lavinia Rossetti
Maria Ignacia Walker - Chile
Graduate of the Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence (Jewellery and Body Ornament MFA studies). Her work is born out of a personal investigations on her own rituals, translated into amulets and conceptual objects, presenting the jewellery as a performative connection with the body.
