BIRTHDAY PARTY II
Exhibition of works by the most recognized and respected artists dealing with jewellery, members of the numerous jury committee of Legnica International Jewellery Competitions.
The current exhibition ‘Birthday Party 2’, organized on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the SILVER festival, is also exceptional. It is a symbolic thank you to all the jurors of our competitions, to whom we owe an indirect influence on the shape of the whole event. The most interesting is that they had an absolute and direct impact on the shape of the exhibition as it consists of works made by those of the jurors who are active designers and artists.

Legnica’s love affair with ‘silver’, that is with contemporary artistic silver jewellery, started in 1979 when the first National Review of Goldsmithing Forms SILVER began. 20 years later, the national format was changed to the international one, and the event was expanded to the scale and prestige of a festival. The number of foreign artists taking part in the International Jewellery Competition has grown year by year.
No wonder then that our invitation to participate in a special jubilee exhibition on the occasion of the 25th year of the SILVER Festival (Birthday party, 2004) was accepted by 92 renowned artists from dozens of countries. It was an unprecedented event in the post-war exhibiting of contemporary jewellery in Poland. After the Polish accession to the European Union (2004), this increase has been more rapid, and today, among hundreds of artists participating in the Festival, between 10 and 20 percent are Polish. An extremely important point for the development of the event has been the participation of some eminent international artists and experts in the jury of the Competition, who thus have become real co-creators of the event and excellent ambassadors for the activity of the Art Gallery in Legnica.
